Solar Panels
Thanks to revolutionary changes in the construction and manufacture of solar (photovoltaic or "PV") panels, longer warranties, tax credits and energy rebates, there has never been a better time to "Go Green" with Earth-Tech Energy Systems solar panels.
The key item in any solar panel is the solar cell, often referred to as a photovoltaic cell or PV cell. Theses cells produce a small amount of energy (.5 to .6 volts). These individual cells are often grouped together on a panel containing 54 to 60 cells. These photons strike the silicon layer of the solar cell and a portion of the photons are absorbed, producing the DC Voltage. Recent technological changes have increased panel efficiencies from 12% to 16% and these panels are now commonly available. Earth-Tech Energy Systems has taken solar efficiency to the next level offering the most efficient solar panel on the market at almost 20% efficiency. This is done by only selling monocrystalline silicon panels and by peaking the production of the panels with our proprietary hybrid controller.
It is important to note that just like wind turbines, not all solar panels are alike! Here is how we maximize the performance of the solar systems that we sell.
There are two common manufacturing processes for solar panels:
-
Monocrystalline Silicon - A single layer of extremely pure silicon is used as the semi-conductor. (Most expensive and most efficient on the market today)
- Polycrystalline Silicon - Liquid silicone is poured into blocks, sawed into plates and then assembled. (Less Efficient but easier to manufacture and therefore less expensive)
Earth-Tech Energy Systems only sells the most efficient and highest quality Monocrystalline solar panels. Then we further maximize output by combining these panels with a solar controller which monitors the panels every second and through a sophisticated process actually peaks the production of each PV cell. Lastly, our solar panels have more bi-pass diodes than any other panel currently on the market today. This means they are less affected by shading and will begin producing power in low light such as dawn and at dusk.
Our solar panels are primarily designed to be incorporated along with our wind turbines into highly efficient, versatile hybrid systems offering year round efficiency and back up power in the event the grid goes down. For those who are unable to incorporate wind power into their system we do offer solar only solutions with battery back up at affordable prices.
